Represents the rule for how to deal with a special character (delimiter). The delimiters in question are opening and closing square and curly brackets, respectively. A delimiter may have different meanings in different parts of the input string. An opening curly bracket, for instance, is a special character denoting the start of a default value when it occurs in the name-part of a data element definition. In other places it just represent a character like any other. In a context where the character has a special meaning it must be escaped, using backslash, if it is to be interpreted as a normal character.
